Avoid loans scams
It’s important to be aware of loans scams. Unauthorised lenders who do not hold Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) can take money from people and victims may not be protected by UK regulations and the Financial Ombudsman.
Fair Finance have recently identified an increase reports of scammers posing as Fair Finance and charging insurance fees to finalise loan applications. All of the scams where done by individuals in South Africa.
Fair Finance do not charge insurance fees for applying for a loan and do not have any offices located outside of the UK. If you are contacted by anyone saying they are from Fair Finance, but ask you to pay insurance fees please do not do so and contact us on 020 8988 0627.
If you believe you have made a payment or provided your bank details to such a scam or suspect fraudulent activity, speak to your bank in the first instance and, if you would like, you should also report this to Action Fraud.
